By October of 2000 I decided to continue with the dome, and started putting together modules on the ground,
making four of the "A" triangles into most of a pent, and making three of the "B" triangles into a half hex.
These modules were light enough for two people to lift into place while a third person screwed on the hub plates, making assembly much faster.
After the first course was complete, we could walk around on top of it to place the next course of modules. The more we added, the stronger it got.
After the third course the large modules were awkward to work with at that height, so we began using single triangles.
In a day, the frame was up! A little adjustment on the next day, and we had a dome.
I decided to see what it would cost me to have a contractor stucco the outside, insulate, and sheetrock. I called for bids and one contractor came to look at it. He gave me a price that I liked, and I told him to write me a contract. It never came. By this time it was winter again, so work stopped for a while.
The winter gave me time to think, looking at the dome frame inspired changes - Frame Modifications
